Christopher Ottinger is a Chicago based artist and educator. He earned his MFA in Studio Arts from Washington University in St. Louis and his BA at Columbia College Chicago in Film/Video Directing. Ottinger uses various media technologies to envision new histories and alternative uses for technical objects, employing an “alchemical” approach to digital media. His art has been exhibited internationally at such institutions as Laumeier Sculpture Park in St. Louis, the Museum London in Ontario, Canada, the Chicago Artists Coalition, and Bert Green Fine Art.

As a scholar, Ottinger has presented research on the subjects of Media Archaeology, moving image, and object oriented philosophy at the Modern Language Association conference, PNCA’s Critical Theory and Research Program, SAIC’s Media Archaeology Symposium, and most recently at the GBBN-sponsored event, "Screen Time," at 21c in Louisville, KY. Recent teaching appointments include The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the department of Film, Video, New Media, and Animation and at the Kentucky College of Art & Design as Visiting Assistant Professor.
