Dom Civiello is a Boston based illustrator. Dom's illustrations have been recognized and awarded by Communication Arts, the New York Society of Illustrators, Society of Illustrators Los Angeles, Association of Illustration UK, Applied Arts Canada, Creative Quarterly, American Illustration, 3x3 International, among others. His work has been seen in gallery exhibits at the Museum of American Illustration N.Y.C., Boston City Hall, SILA Illustration West Annual show, the World Illustration Awards in London, and is included in home and private collections, as well, been featured in industry leading publications. Civiello's published illustrations have focussed on clients in the editorial and book markets, including Penguin Random House. When Dom graduated from high school, he initially wanted to join the army, but couldn’t due to medical reasons. Dom always had an interest in drawing, but never considered it as a career path. Dom attended and earned a B.F.A. from the Massachuttes College of Art and Design. There he began exploring different fields of illustration and incorporating design and multimedia processes into his work. Upon receiving his undergraduate degree, he attended the Illustration Academy workshop in Kansas City, Missouri. Dom's illustration style is about combining traditional techniques that are very messy and experiential with digital techniques that are more rigid and precise. Because of this, the work can have a natural variety of textures, while still keeping the overall image focused on the narrative or idea. Civiello’s processes flow seamlessly with his sense of design to create images that speak volumes with the least amount of details. Currently, he is pursuing a M.F.A. from the Hartford University Low Residency Illustration program.
