Please join us via Zoom Thursday, January 28th at 7 pm for a presentation with Cathryn Mallory

Cathryn Mallory is currently a Professor and Director of the Gallery of Visual Arts for the School of Visual and Media Art at the University of Montana-Missoula. She is currently teaching sculpture and professional practices courses. Mallory has also served as a juror for numerous exhibitions at various museums and university galleries. Originally from the Chicago area, she received her BFA in fiber from Northern Illinois University and MFA in sculpture from the University of Oklahoma.

The use of unconventional materials and obsessive construction processes have always been significant elements in Cathryn Mallory’s sculptural objects and installations. Regardless of the media, she generally uses laborious fiber techniques such as stitching, wrapping, felting, and weaving. Her work has been exhibited in numerous exhibitions on a regional and national level, and is featured in the permanent collections of several major museums in Montana, South Dakota, and Nevada.  She recently had a solo exhibition at the San Juan Island Museum of Art, Friday Harbor, WA.
